BSR University: Public Speaking Demystified

November 3, 2015 • 1:00 pm-4:00 pm

Learn practical tools to enhance your public-speaking skills. Participants will learn breathing exercises to reduce nervousness, stay focused, and set a foundation for developing a strong, resonant voice. Participants will learn articulation exercises to increase clarity and be heard effortlessly by their audience. Once a stronger physical and vocal presence is established, this training will focus on delivery, including individual feedback, how to influence listeners with carefully placed pauses, use of word stress, and vocal modulation to develop a delivery that is clear, articulate, and memorable. This workshop is suitable for beginning to advanced speakers. This training will be led by Lisa Wentz, founder of the San Francisco Voice Center. Wentz regularly coaches speech and presentation skills with executives and managers from Fortune 100 companies including Adobe, eBay, Google, Oracle, Salesforce, and VMware. She is considered one of the top coaches in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been featured as a public-speaking expert in the Wall Street Journal and L.A. Daily Journal, among others.

BSR University: Trends in Sustainability Reporting

Significant changes are afoot in the sustainability reporting world as companies seek to move beyond simply reporting their activities to reporting outcomes and impacts on sustainability. To help companies evolve their sustainability reporting approaches, this training session will provide participants with insights and guidance on three themes underpinning a successful reporting strategy: transparency, standards, and measurement. We will explore expectations for corporate transparency and how reporting can provide discipline to an overarching transparency strategy. We will also review the complementarity and overlap of different standards, norms, frameworks, and guidance governing non-financial reporting. Finally, we will discuss different methodologies available to help companies measure the entirety of their impacts. Marin Food and Farm Tour

November 3, 2015 • 8:30 am-11:30 am

Enjoy a gourmet journey into the incredible Point Reyes food scene in West Marin. Learn all about sustainable agriculture, artisan food production, and local history. After departing San Francisco, our first stop will be at Point Reyes Cheese Company for a walking tour of the farm. Our guide will discuss the newly installed methane digester and other cutting-edge technologies used to assist with waste management, water quality, and pasture management. After an in-the-field cheese tasting, participants will enjoy a gourmet lunch in the farm’s beautiful culinary center. Our next stop will be at the remarkable Hog Island Oyster Company, where we will learn about the farm's growing process and sustainability practices and participate in an oyster-shucking lesson and oyster tasting. Our final stop will be at Heidrun Meadery, where participants will observe the honey bees in action while learning how sparkling mead is produced. The Marin Food and Farm Tour includes round-trip transportation, guided tours, a gourmet lunch, and all wine, cheese, and food tastings.
